I’m a freelance lifestyle writer and a full time brand journalist based in Edmonton, Alberta’s capital and the northernmost major city in Canada. It’s a great place filled with inspiring people and cool startup businesses. In fact, I wrote about many of them here.
For five years I was Alberta Editor for Canada’s largest fashion publication, FASHION Magazine, covering fashion news in Calgary and Edmonton, but in the past I’ve also freelanced for outlets like the National Post, the Edmonton Journal (as their first Social Seen columnist), Vitamin Daily (now VITA), Alberta Venture, Avenue Magazine and Edify. This one went viral (thanks to the hockey fans) and—if you can believe it—my first interview ever was with Lady Gaga (circa 2008), thanks to a little indie Edmonton magazine called Parlour that took a chance on a rookie writer.
As publicist and communications manager for companies like Poppy Barley, I’ve also landed media exposure in local, national and international news outlets, including the Globe and Mail, Vancouver Magazine, Toronto Star, Cityline, The Marilyn Denis Show, Redbook and Refinery29.com.
Twelve years in, I think through multiple perspectives—consumer, business and media—before developing a communications strategy. I love crafting the perfect pitch, catch thrills with every media placement, and often lose sleep over planning exciting campaigns.
Don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to chat with you about your next project!
